WEI Tianmu Lake Hotel, the inaugural property of WEI Retreat—a luxury hotel brand under BTL—makes its debut on the shores of a lakeside in the Jiangnan region

WEI Retreat is a hotel brand under BTL. By exploring and conveying traditional Chinese aesthetics, the WEI brand showcases “Oriental Elegance” to the world and creates Chinese-style luxury. Every element of the brand, from its logo to its core philosophy, embodies the essence of traditional Chinese culture.

The WEI logo is composed of three vertical strokes, three horizontal strokes, and one final vertical stroke. Beyond representing the surname “Wei” of the brand’s founder, the acronym WEI stands for Warmth, Elegance, and Inspiration. What makes it even more ingenious is that it embodies profound Oriental philosophy when viewed from right to left: “The Dao generates one; one generates two; two generates three; three generates all things” and “Three times three is nine; nine returns to one”. The hotels aim to deliver service elements rooted in the concepts of traditional Chinese tea, Zen, medicine, filial piety, and wellness. Through warm, heartfelt, and meticulous Oriental hospitality, they help every guest achieve inner peace and tranquility, refreshing both mind and body to realize the true essence of wellness.

On April 1, 2016, WEI Tianmu Lake Hotel—the brand’s first property—opened its doors in Liyang, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.

Today, as more and more Chinese investors purchase overseas properties, the new wave of overseas real estate development demands hotels infused with authentic Chinese elements. This presents a golden opportunity for Chinese luxury hotel brands to step onto the global stage. Currently, WEI’s project pipeline includes the under-development WEI Anji and WEI Fiji, along with the already operational WEI Tianmu Lake Hotel, collectively forming the brand’s strategic product blueprint. Moving forward, WEI will represent Chinese national brands as it enters the global luxury hotel industry, with upcoming properties set to launch in Dunhuang, New York, Dubai, Hokkaido, the Maldives, and Seychelles, continuing to inherit and spread the charm of Oriental Elegance worldwide.
